Paula Ocampo’s Story

Paula Ocampo’s Story

Get to know Paula Ocampo’s story, a 38 year old from Colombia who was abused from 3 to 13 years of age but that, today, joins #ISayNoMore as a part of her healing process.

My name is Paula Ocampo, I am 38 years old and I am from Colombia. I was sexually abused from when I was 3 years old until 13 by different men. Today I say No More, and I choose to break the silence by telling my story. I never told anyone because I was ashamed and felt so guilty. I told my secret through my book, and my family found out not long ago. I received all of their support and they felt awful realizing all the time I lived without telling the truth and having kept this trauma to myself.

My healing process started a few years ago, when I was on the edge of not wanting to live anymore. I didn’t have hope. I was dealing with a very strong depression and reached the darkest spot of the tunnel. Then I told God, “there has to be another way to live”. From there, my life started to change. I found transpersonal coaching and the Ho’oponopono technique, and I went through my healing process. Today, I am helping a lot of people that have gone through the same situation. I know I have come with a purpose and it is to help others, to be that voice, to encourage them to talk, because talking about the abuse and raising your voice to someone else is the first step to heal. That is why this movement will change lives. We are not guilty for this, we are victims. Here I am, I already have a purpose in life, and I invite you and all of those who are watching us, to talk, break the silence. This is a tough process, but it is healing as well. If I can, you can too. #ISayNoMore
